Families, entrepreneurs, and young professionals (many working in the area’s tech corridor) make up a community that perfectly balances clean-scrubbed suburbia with a dose of hipster cred. Trendy destinations like the retro Kimpton Goodland hotel, craft brewers like M.Special and Hollister Brewing, and the newest location of Santa Barbara-based Dart Coffee are ushering in a fresh spirit. My husband actually went to UCSB back in 1996, and the rest is history! Having a town situated right next to a world-renowned university is an absolute gift. The research happening here is next-level—did you know UCSB is home to numerous Nobel Prize winners, including recent laureates in Physics like John Martinis and Michel Devoret?

But it is not just an isolated campus; UCSB partners deeply with our community. They provide extraordinary learning opportunities for local students, from helping create the Computer Science curriculum at Santa Barbara High School to working with the incredible UCSB Arts & Lectures program. One of my family’s favorite weekend activities is riding the fantastic bike path that connects Goleta directly to Santa Barbara. We love biking through the different communities and ending up at UCSB to take in the vibrant college atmosphere.

Recent years have seen several major developments greenlit, including the historic hilltop Knoll subdivision and the 26-acre Tree Farm development.
